Painting
Over the Summer I have attended two painting groups.
In both groups I have worked outside, so all of the pictures on my feed have been drawn from eye rather than by photograph. I have noticed that the photographs tend to appear wider as though the lense seems to stretch them – this is quite an interesting discovery. I have accomplished my first ever oil painting, which I completed in two sittings; the first on location and the second at the painting club I have been attending.
Drawing
I have attended a week long course in Life Drawing at The Art Academy in London, to not only improve my own skill, but also as way of learning how to deliver a new unit in Figure Drawing at my place of work. This has enabled me to build a scheme of work for adult students to learn from, which will culminate in a student exhibition at Southend in February. I am hoping to document the progress with this and use for my Skills module.
The Life Drawing course has definately given me more confidence with my drawing and I feel it has changed the way I approach sketching completely. I was suprised at how interesting the anatomy element to the course was.
The way the body functions under the skin has also informed my current ideas for the last essay - see post below. I have documented all of the work I produced, but have placed a small selection of photographs of the drawings on my feed which can be viewed at; https://www.flickr.com/photos/victoriaburch/
